Cash Is King: Top 5 Richest Anime Characters

In this capitalist world, garnering wealth means amassing power, as well. And the people who have the most money are arguably also the most influential in the society. Of course, this truth carries over in many anime shows, too, so in this blog, we’re going to list some of the richest characters we’ve ever seen.

(Just a bit of a disclaimer: Kings and other national leaders from fantasy or isekai worlds aren’t included in this list. With that said, you won’t see Sinbad (from Magi), Lord Ainz (from Overlord), and other inexplicably wealthy figureheads from such anime.)

Without further ado, here are the top five richest anime characters we’ve seen:

5 – Robert E.O. Speedwagon (JJBA)

Whoops, I forgot how to JoJo. | The Otaku 2.0 Theatre
R.E.O. Speedwagon might just be the anime version of the Rockefellers. In other words, he’s incredibly rich.

On this list, this Robert E.O. Speedwagon seems to be the only guy whose wealth can actually be explained. He went to the Americas to explore, and he got a bit of a jackpot when he found oil. Since it’s a really important liquid that powers virtually any moving vehicle, he quickly and steadily amassed a great amount of wealth.

4 – Jabami Yumeko (Kakegurui)

10 Things You Didn't Know about Kakegurui
Jabami Yumeko casually brings around 10 million yen (roughly 87,000 US dollars) in cash inside her bag.

Kakegurui is an anime about high school students, a majority of the characters here are insanely rich. Arguably, the protagonist of the series, Jabami Yumeko, is one of the wealthiest. In the first episode alone, she casually challenged her classmate to a duel with 10 million yen at stake. And through the course of the series, she just got bolder, and her bets even went higher.

3 – Fitzgerald (Bungou Stray Dogs)

Hard to hate awesome Villains- Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald - YouTube
Fitzgerald’s “gift” proves that money is indeed power.

Fitzgerald is a really interesting character in Bungou Stray Dogs. He controls The Guild, and with his vast amounts of wealth, he can practically buy anything . . . except his wife’s life. His characterization revolves around his quest of finding something that can save his wife, and he’s willing to sacrifice anything to do just that, even let go of all his money.

His power is easy to understand. By spending money, he gets to become stronger. With about $50,000, he can land a punch that’s enough to throw Atsushi onto the wall. Now imagine how much money he had to spend to go toe to toe with the combined strength of both Atsushi and Akutagawa. It’s hard to pinpoint a specific amount, but it’s safe to say that’s some wadloads of cash!

2 – Suitengu Chouji (Speed Grapher)

Suitengu Chouji is worth over 600 trillion yen (more than 5 trillion dollars).

Suitengu Chouji went from riches to rags to riches. His family was framed by the Japanese government, and he was sent to war at a young age. After an accident (and an experiment) that gave him superhuman abilities, he slowly climbed his way back to the top. But most of his wealth is actually owned by the Tennouzu family, whose matriarch he seduced and eventually killed.

In the last few episodes, Suitengu gathered all of his money and stacked them inside his mansion. A few floors were filled with the bundles of cash, and he claimed that everything inside the place amounts to about 600 trillion yen, which is roughly 5 trillion dollars. In a single click of a button, he burned himself along with that money, resulting in the collapse of the economy of Japan and subsequently of the world.

1 – Kambe Daisuke (Balance Unlimited)

Kambe Daisuke, with his unlimited wealth, is richer than anyone could ever imagine.

No one can ever compare to the wealth that Kambe Daisuke controls. He has the most expensive cars and fanciest suits. But what’s more impressive is his access to state-of-the-art technology that lets him do virtually anything. He can send missiles to catch criminals, sign checks to buy anything on a whim, and hack all the country’s (and possibly the world’s) computers.

At one point in the anime, he gained access to all the cameras, streetlights, and electronic billboards in a city. In another episode, he paid millions of people to download an app and record themselves all for the purpose of finding a single person through the recorded videos.

All of Kambe Daisuke’s expenses are tallied at the end of every episode. After episode 10, he has spent over 400 billion yen or more than 3.5 billion dollars. Right at the last episode, his expenses went a little too over the top. The tally board itself seemed to have been broken because it only showed one word: “Unlimited.” #
